Today officially starts spring break and I couldn't be more ready. You know you're ready for spring break when your kids are perfectly behaved and you're
still snapping at them!
So what are my plans over break?
1. Grading! Grades are due at the end of break and I have poetry anthologies, essays, and soundtracks to finish grading.

I love our poetry unit, by the way. If we're friends on Facebook, you may have seen my post about the kids' slam poems bringing each other to tears. It was such a heartwarming and rewarding experience.
2. Sleep! I know this isn't a revolutionary or fun thing to list, but it's probably the thing I'm most looking forward to. I've really been dragging over the last couple weeks and I could use the extra Z's.

3. Sun! Florida doesn't have much "spring" in its spring; we really go from winter straight into summer. I'm hoping to get a little sun before it's pushing 90 and being outside for even five minutes is torture.
4. TV & Books! Matt and I are literally weeks behind on our favorite shows because I just haven't had the urge to sit down and watch anything, and I haven't had time to read either. It will be nice to empty out my brain with junk TV, then fill it back up again with quality reading.

5. Atlanta! At the end of break, I'm taking a trip to ASCD in Atlanta with our curriculum and administrative teams. Last year ASCD took us to Houston, and I'm really excited to have the opportunity to go again. Last year there were tons to learn and absorb, and I came back so ready to implement the new stuff in my class. I could definitely use another dose of inspiration from the conference.

Needless to say, I'm looking forward to break...Really, it's the little things that will bring me joy and some much needed relief.

We only have Good Friday off and will be back at work Monday due to snow makeup days. Oh well!
Look at you doing link ups now! I am happy because it seems like you are posting more. :) They are nice for writing prompts from time to time.
Yeah, I found I definitely needed the writing prompts these last few weeks, so link ups are useful for that!!

DeleteEnjoy your well-earned break! We have four days off(including the weekend) because of Easter. Likely I will spend it doing report cards. On break I love to drink coffee in Pjs, chill and watch TV and sleep!
ReplyDeleteReport cards are due April 4 for us, but I'm in Atlanta April 1-4, so I need to get all my grades in by the 1st. I'm stressing!
DeleteAll good things! Our schools had spring break this past week. Way back when I was in school, we never had a spring break. I missed out!

DeleteI don't get spring break, obviously, and when I was in school? We went home for it. It wasn't the BIG THING it is these days (and we certainly didn't go to Europe or other foreign countries, except maybe Canada).

Wait, so did you not get spring break or did you just not make a big deal of it? I've only ever taken one big spring break trip, and that was my senior year of college. We went to Vegas!
DeleteTotally feel ya on the sleep thing! That's my favorite thing about being on vacation too. Although most of the time when I take vacation it's for a 'runcation' so I don't really get the quality sleep I'm jonesing for!

DeleteI agree about sleeping in! The kids are out of school so I don't have to rush at all in the morning. We took a family trip to Seattle and had a grand time.

DeleteSounds like a good mix of catching up, relaxing and having fun! I enjoy catching up on my reading and my tv shows.

ReplyDeleteThanks! It's so hot by the time spring rolls around here that I do avoid going outside as much as possible. I haven't enjoyed the sun yet!
