My Schedule Lately

If you haven't noticed, my running posts have been few and far between. While volleyball is going on, I've had to adjust my schedule; I've cut my runs back to only two or three times a week.

On Monday nights, I'm meeting with my Ragnar team to run; I also try to run twice between Friday and Sunday. For now, while training for big races is kind of on hold, this is working well. I'm staying motivated and in shape, but I'm not stressing.

Beginning after my Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving, I'm going to start adding some speedwork into the mix.

Matt signed us up for an awesome race in early December called Sup 'N Run...It's a relay! He'll paddle 4 miles, tag me, and I'll run 8. I'm so excited.
A little afternoon paddle this Saturday.
Speaking of paddling, we went today with Meg. November has brought us some perfect weather for the water; it was sunny but not too hot. The water was refreshing instead of warm; it even drizzled a little before sunset.
Meg and me paddling to the beach for a little rest.
And I got to see dolphins!
Spot the dolphin!
Racing against the sunset.
We just barely caught the last 5 seconds before the sun got below the horizon.
Tonight Matt and I saw The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. This book was my favorite in the trilogy, and I'm so happy that the movie was fantastic. I totally loved it!

What are your plans this weekend?
What's the last movie you saw in theaters? We rarely see movies in theaters, but series we're loyal to always make the cut.
What's your running schedule like when you're not actively training?
Do you do speedwork?
Are you running a Turkey Trot or doing the Runner's World holiday run streak this year?

    1. I'm beyond excited for the race...it's sure to be a blast!

I was afraid to go opening weekend because I like to avoid mass amount of my students outside of school, but we found a new theatre that's usually pretty empty, and it was was perfect solution!

  2. I can't believe you are paddling in November!
It snowed here in NY last night!!!! Lucky girl!
The Sup'n'Run race sounds awesome!!!!!!! I can't wait to see the details.

I have been lacking with training and running so no Turkey Trot this year but I am thinking of doing the RW streak...we shall see how it goes :)

Good luck with all your training and I can't wait to hear about it!!!!

    1. I know, this weather is NOT normal. It's usually chilly by now, but it's been in the 80s this month.

  3. Beautiful photos!

Running the virtual Sub30 Turkey Trot 5k on Thanksgiving - will get the whole household outdoors for a bit. I may wear the orange tutu I had for my virtual half this weekend...

I've been swimming and cycling more but after my run yesterday I want to fit more of that back in, especially longer ones.

A movie in the theater? I'm not sure I know what that is anymore... Damn kids.

    1. I'm doing the Sub30 along with my Turkey Trot...I'll be wearing 2 bibs I guess haha. (Not planning to PR or break 30 though. The 5k course I'm running has the biggest bridge of my life.)

  4. The Sup and Run sounds so perfect! I'm very, very excited about this for you guys!

I don't know why but I have been anti-Hunger Games. I trust your opinion on series though so maybe I will start reading the books over Thanksgiving break!

    1. Girl, the books are NOT that good. I was expecting HP-caliber writing, but Collins isn't really that great with words. The series is intriguing and thought-provoking, but it's not life-changing. I actually think the movie was better than the book in this case...so that's saying something. I read the books because all my students love them, and I'm glad I read them, but they were disappointing.

Short version: I'm anti-Twilight, ambivalent to THG, and still super in love with HP haha.

    2. I never expect HP caliber writing from any series, it always leads to disappointment. Twilight is a guilty pleasure for me. I know that both the books and movies are horrible, but I can't help but find them entertaining. I try not to tell too many people that I like it :)

I watched the first Hunger Games movie on our cruise and thought it was okay. It's been on my reading list for a while but I always seem to find something else to read instead.

  5. That race sounds so awesome! I want to try SUP really badly. It's way too cold here for me to even consider doing it. Sounds like it's time for a trip to Florida! Beautiful pictures!

  6. That sounds like a super fun race! I'd love to try paddle boarding....if I wasn't too scared, lol.

I feel far less guilty taking an extra day off when I'm not avidly training for something. I don't do a whole lot of speed work, but I like to get in tempo runs and do them at race pace. :)

    1. I was so scared the first couple times, and now I get nervous if the water is choppy, but it's seriously becoming second nature. Try it!!

  7. I am running the Atlanta half on thanksgiving day but I haven't been running much at all lately so it will be a "have fun" run for me, not so much race :). I want to see the new HG movie. I loved those books! Can't wait. I am hoping to try some new workouts and gyms over the next couple of months, I still will run some but I think I am looking for more variety. I really want to try a Barre class

    1. I wish I were in good enough shape to just run a half without training for it haha. I've heard great things about barre, but it's so expensive!
